Howdy all,

Often when I am trying to install a network card on a win98se pc the process calls for the os cd to be put into the drive for files to be loaded. Several times the files are not found and this causes a problem on the next boot up. Is there any way to avoid this?

I'll be happy to add any necessary details to get this answered.

Thanks

Why not just copy the contents of the Win98 folder on the install CD onto your harddrive, say into a folder like c:\windows\options\cabs

Then run Regedit and go to:

HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Setup

and look for the string reading "SourcePath" Right-click it and Modify it to read as above, ie "c:\windows\options\cabs\" (don't forget the "\" at the end). Close Regedit, and that will take care of Windows not having to look for the CD every time. :)
