I installed win98se on a machine. I then copied the cabs folder to C:\windows\options\cabs. How can i make it so that windows looks there for files instead of looking to D: (the cdrom) when it needs to. Is there something in the registry or something?

thanks

next time you update a driver, choose specify a location and type in that location. it should look there after searcing if you don't change it. you really don't want to change it as a default because windows update will always install to the same folder for drivers, and the OS may not be able to find them later. That is my understanding.

HKLM->Software->Microsoft->Windows->CurrentVersion->Setup->Sourcepath

once in setup look to your right for " SourcePath " double click on it & add the path to where you copied your cab files.
