WIN98se and DDR RAM

I have a KG7-Raid board and 1gig DDR PC2100 Crucial Reg. ECC RAM. After having a few problems with my system I found this in the FAQ here:

<< Win9x/ME can go up to 512MB of RAM before it requires an adjustment to the vcache to use more RAM. >>

Link

There have been a few hiccups with my video card and I thought this may be related somehow. I messed around a bit in the BIOS to properly set the RAM up. Are there other steps I need to take to make sure my rig is running at full potential(at 1gig RAM) and stable in regards to RAM? If I were to follow the steps on the MS support page and make adjustments to run Windows at 512mb ram would that mean the other 2 sticks (256mb) are useless now? Would this hinder performance? Any other issues I should be aware of with this RAM and amount? Thanks! 😀

1 Gig RAM may make your computer unstable and preform worse.
Advice. Take out part so you have 512MB and sell the rest.
