Win98SE and broken internet

I?m working on a client?s computer, it is a Win98SE computer. I basically reinstalled their OS a few days ago. They attempted to set up MSN and it broke their internet connection. Now I?m trying to fix the problem. Basically I can?t connect to the internet. I can get an IP address from the dhcp server. I?ve tried the winsock fix for win98 and what happens is after the first reboot, things work. After that, I reboot again and the internet stops working again. I can alleviate this by using winipcfg and doing a release all and renew all. However, after I reboot once more, I?m stuck without any internet.

Any ideas?
