Just added a SCSI HD to my system, an additional drive - primary drive C: not moved or touched .Rebooted with new drive added and it works fine. I tried to remove an old IDE HD used a backup (Ghost images), reset the MB bios, reboot and it won't load windows. After a few minutes I get an error message that windows is missing files. I reinstall the HD and it loads. On the HD I am trying to remove has the following files:

On one partition
ffastun.ffa ffastun.ffl ffastun.ffo
ffastun0.ffx Image.bak Image.dat
Image.idx

On the second partition
C Scsi.gho Image.bak Image.dat
Image.idx

I know the .bak,.dat and .idx are related to the ghost images.

What are the .ffa, .ffl, .ffo, .ffx extensions? Could this be the reason the system won't boot with out this drive? Really want to use this drive in another machine I am building.

TIA

I think, but I'm not sure, that those files have something to do with MS Find Fast. Do you have office 97 or 2000 installed on your system?

Office 97, but only word and excell installed. I was thinking of moving or copying those files to the new / another drive in the system and see if it boots. Going out , will check posts later.

TIA

Have Duron 700/Abit KT-700/Windows ME, having trouble installing office 97. After setup copies all the files, when it says it is "setting up" (I guess doing the registry and creating shortcuts), it always crashes. I can install Excel and Access but thats as far as I ever get. Anyone else have that problem? Thanks!

The are microsoft fast find files. You could try disabling fast find... I don't remember how though :(
