Well, I did a fresh install of Win98. I've got an FTP server, mIRC, AIM, and logitech software loading on startup. Right after all the startup stuff is done, I'm already down to ~75% resources...load up an HTML editor, and I'm down to 50-55%...I'm hovering around 36% right now under normal use. Just loaded up Photoshop and it only went down to 31%. Is that normal? I'm running Win98 with a Duron 700, 256 MB RAM, 256 MB swapfile size. Any resources/suggestions on how to improve my resource utilization would be appreciated.
