win98 shutdown problems, patch from 98se

I am haveing problems shutting down win98 after having fiddled around with some networksettings and having reinsatlled some drivers and devices, now win98 wont shutdown it just hans on the shutdown screen. I know that win98se has a patch for this probelkm but I am not runnign 98se, does anyone have any advice for a fix to this problem
 
What network card do you have? I had an Intel Pro 10 and it would prevent Win98 from shutting down also, but if I take it out of the computer, it works again...
