Win98 SHORTCUT KEYS just don't work

How come in the properties for a shortcut, you can create a "hotkey" combo to access the shortcut, but the darn thing DOES NOT WORK. I remember reading that the shortcut had to be on the desktop to work, so I tried that. That only worked when you just CREATE the shortcut, but won't work the next time you log into your PC. Same thing with the shortcut needing to be in the Start Menu, and created using Windows Explorer.

Any one know how to get this to work?

Shaady1,

I had that same problem in a Win95 computer. Somehow a person did something to the OS and I could no longer get my shortcut hot keys to work. That was a couple years ago and now have forgotten the cure.

It is something you customized in Windows at some time or other. That is a user tweaking error.

You could try reinstalling Windows over itself. That might help.

I use a good number of hot keys to run my programs in Win98 SE. I am a touch typist and dislike fondling my mouse to much.
