Win98 se vfat error on new Tbird. Please Help!!

🙁 Please help.

My friend just bought a AMD Tbird 750 Mhz, a DFI ak74 Motherboard, Geforce 2 MX, 12 GB Quantum Fireball, HP 10x 4x 32x Burner and 128 Mb 100 sd ram.
The problem is after installing win98 se, and it starts up for the first time it comes with a quick error = xmas cache failure then win continues to load and stops at the blue screen with the message Vfat cannot be loaded because of missing resource or unit.

Whe have tryied to reformat c: and reinstall win98 se 3 times no luck. What the H... is wrong? Please help!!!!
