Dear folks,

I get an error when normally loading windows and i can't get anywhere.

While Initializing device VKD:
Windows Protection Error y

Then I tried reinstalling windows so i start the computer with a boot disk, then run windows 98 setup from the cd. I get to " Copying Files needed for windows setup ...", Copies some files and then it freezes. A few times i got that it couldn't find himem.sys but i know its there. The above errors are what i get now.
Any help is very much apreciated. Thanks

The way I fixed my "cant find himem.sys" errors was to format? I also copy the files to the HD to make sure it isn't a cd drive problem...

Boot with 98 boot disk at c: "md win98" go to cd rom drive (d🙂 and get into d:\win98 dir and type "copy *.* c:\win98" with will copy all the cab files and the setup to your hd... Run setup from there.....

Good Luck
