I've had good luck with my GTS in Win2k.
You will notice a slowdown (I barely did) because of your processor but it shouldn't be terribly signifigant.

My biggest beef with games + win2k was q3a. Performance hit X 10!

I have Win2k but have so far refrained from getting counter strike because sierra said that they could not support on that OS. I didn't want to buy it and find it not working properly but if you all think otherwise I would like to know.

FYI I have been running Win2k and CounterStrike for over a year now(since beta 6.7 on win2K)and have never run into a problem with it. I have a dual boot between Win98 and 2000 and I can honestly say that with the Geforce refresh rate fix for 2000 the game runs better on 2000. So no need to refrain from running what is by far the most popular online game ever.

oh and i get 99fps on a dinky radeon LE under win2k @ CS

and quake 3 is baddass in smp once you get it going right. (2 years less than the age of water...)

CS on 2000 works great for me also. Not one problem yet(6 months)...

Tribes2 on the other hand has givin me random FREEZING, sometime it takes 15-20mins then freezes. Sometimes it never freezes. Tribes2 has plenty of small bugs here and there, so i doubt 2000 is the problem.

what about framerates?
would i see any difference?
with 12.40?
what do u think is best with geforce DDR
what drivers and which version of direct x?
thanks....

Framerates suffer, but not to the point that it's detrimental. You should be doing 60+ frames/second anyways, down from the maximum of 100. I've found that anything over 40 in CS is more than good enough, as there isn't any rocket jumps involved.

b4 i do this in the weekend, ANY SPECIAL IMPORTANT things i need to notice, install? like any drivers that will blow my computer apart or cement it?
