Win98 - open with menu

When I installed Office 97 on some Win98SE PCs, Word, Excel, etc didn't get put on the open with menu. You can browse to them and they will open files, but they don't get added to the open with list.

Is there a way to edit the open with list. I searched the knowledge base but didn't seem to find much related.

Thanks.

highlight the file by clicking on it, hit shift & right click the file & you'll get the open with option.
check always open box to keep the association.

the easiest way would be to give it an extention so you could associate it with a program.

For a min. I was thinking that there was a way to setup the default program for documents, however I belive that is for extensions that are not associated with a program.

I guess you could also create a shortcut to the application with that file as a switch (I think you can set that up in Win 98, but it's been a long time.)

Thats a little too complicated for a user that can hardly use a mouse but I appreciate the help. I really just need to know how to edit the Open With Menu.
