just upgraded from p2 to athlon, including case and mb of course, but win 98 is being totally retarded. i formatted my hd (im not partitioning this or doing anything out of the ordinary) and ran from a floppy. this all works fine and i get past the installation, past the driver database, then when it restarts, it just hangs after 'driver update completed continuing to load windows' or whatever the hell it says. it keeps asking me when rebooting to load windows from the hd or from the cd, and i keep choosing hd. dunno if this is enough info, but i hope someone out there can help me out

:(

When I had that similar installation problem with Win98 I did what it said to do. I turned off the computer and waited a bit then turned it back on again. Then it finished installing OK and auto rebooted.

Have no idea why that happened but reading the onscreen message as Win98 started to install it told what to do if the installation fails to complete and there was no HD activity for a while. :D
