Win98 having problems with DHCP?

I have a win98 and a winXP machine connected to a Linksys cable router to share cable access. The WinXP machine is fine, everything works there.

The Win98 machine pauses for a long time upon booting up and then has an odd IP address...not the 192.168.1.102 it is supposed to have from the router.

Anyone know what could be wrong here?

Thanks for the help in advance ;)

Two things to check

1 - Make sure the Win98 box is set to use DHCP
2 - Run winipcfg and check your network card's IP address

If the address starts with 169, it is set to DHCP and cannot find the server. After that I would try hard-coding the IP address and see if you can ping the router....
