Win98 hangs w/ via 4-in-1 driver.....

Why does Win98 hang with new VIA 4-in-1 chipset drivers? I tried installing it in my old Biostar board but it wouldn't boot up, and now I tried to install them on my new Abit KT7A-R board (w/ KT133A chipset) with the CD it came with, and it won't boot up correctly. So, I have to go into safe mode and uninstall the drivers. Why is this happening? Shouldn't I just install the drivers, and that's it? What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

It`s best to install them the very first time with a clean install of OS,the Via drivers should be installed first, then DirectX followed by your other drivers like video etc, when newer Via drivers come out you can just go ahead & install them, they will update the old ones, btw try getting your drivers from here here .

Also check you don`t have any IRQ conflicts.
