Win98 defrag question

Win98 puts the most used programs at the begining of the HD when it defrag's. There is a file that stores this info. I have found it before but cant now. What is its name and can I edit it for when I get new games?

Surely the most frequently used programs should be in the middle?

Chuck, Hard drives acces data on the outside (front) of the drive fastest. This is why you want you most used programs at the front of the drive.

Zalen, There are a bunch of files in the c:\windows\applog directory. I tried editing 1 once but it didn't help. If you can figure out a way to do it right, let us know.

did you try editing optlog.txt? That is the file I was looking for. I will do some digging in windows and see what comes up

I don't remember what file that I edited, but after a few days, the file was back in its unedited form.
