Win98 client

I have a P4 3gig home wireless network server using XP Pro with a Dell optima W98 client. We set up everything to share various files and the printer etc. The printer worked fine but now the client sends thing to the printer, seems to be going to the printer but doesn't print. sometimes the documents are in the printer que of the server but don'et print. I have no idea what changed.
I also have set and number of files to be shared in the client with the server. Some are can be found and some cannot. The only common thread between those files the server can find and those it cannot is where there were some files that were passworded, per recommendation and some older files that were not. The none passworded can be found and those that have a password are not in the file. I know I am reading the clients files because of the name of the computer and the file names.
So: 1. how do I get the printer to work again?
and 2. how do I find the files in the client and/or unpasswrod protect them?

Just tossing out ideas: the first thing I would do for the printer is uninstall and then reinstall the drivers (on the client).

I don't think I understand what your second problem is but I have a few questions? Do you have any other computers on your network? Can they connect? Have you tried running the Win XP Home Networking Wizard to create a floppy disk to use to set up the Win98 machine?

Are you using a router or crossover cables to connect the two computers?

The driver is in the cleint W98 machine and was working fine for about the last month.

I do not have any other computers on he network. My daughter's laptop was connected b4 but she took it to college with her. That was b4 when the server was a W98 machine which I replaced with the XP Pro. in deecmber.
