i have a virus (cabana) and need to replace some files: spool32.exe, explorer.exe, systray.exe, wmiexe.exe, and taskmon.exe - i have found them on the win98se cd - i cant delete or replace the originals because they are being used by windows - i used the boot disk and the Cab ext tool. i entered exactly this
Source path: E:\WIN98\WIN98_46.CAB
File(s) to extract: SPOOL32.EXE
Destination Path C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM
then i got this
ERROR: Cannot open file : E\WIN98\WIN98_46.CAB.\(null)
i realize the drive letters may have moved up - D being original - i get the same error with D as the Source Path
is it possible to use EXT tool by putting the needed files in a folder on the desktop or somewhere and getting them from there? am i doing something wrong? i havent been using computers for a year yet and am fairly frustrated
help me please, i just reformatted a week ago and dont want to do it again unless it is absolutely necessary
