win98 box can't get online.

I am trying to fix my bro-in-law's old 98 pc he can't get online. I reinstalled his nic. I have it on my network. it seems to get all info from my dhcp server. (ip info etc.) but I can't ping anything.

so I guess dns isn't workign for it. I even manually set all the networkinfo. any ideas?
 
thanks!!! i've never heard of that before.

I didn't use that program, rather that page had a link to an eartthlink page. I uninstalled all networking components from the network properties page then, uninstalled all communication parts from the windows components section in "add remove programs" then I rebooted, and edited the registry to remove some stuff then reinstall the communications stuff then reboot and it auto detected the nic card and eveything worked.
