I was looking in device manager under network adapters and noticed 2 entries for "Deterministic Networks Mac Shim". I have no idea what this is. I'm using a PC..not a Mac. The only adapters that should be installed are dial-up adapter and the adapter for my 3Com network card. I'm concerned that some virus may have installed this to gain control over my computer. Anyone have any ideas about this??

Thanks Talon,
That hits the nail right on the head. Must have been from the Winproxy software on my system.

Yep, Winproxy is the culprit in your case. I remember seeing them on a clients computer and removing them thinking "what the hell?". Then proxy wouldnt work.
Reinstall proxy. Removed shims. Did that a couple of times before I caught on. :)
