In order to get access to the W2K machine, there needs to be a user in W2K's list of users, with the same name and password as the Win98 machines.

You say that you have problems with your O/C machine. W2K is in general more picky when it comes to O/C'ing. But what problems do you excactly have?

IPC$ is the default adminstrative share. Create a new share for your c drive on your win2k machine. You will then need to make an account on win2k which matches the login account you use for win98. You dont have to put a password in, but whatever you use, make sure it matches the password on win98. Then you wont get login and password prompts anymore.
