Thief and System Shock 2 don't work for winxp

I have a Athlon XP system, do you think windows 95 will be compatible with my hardware?

I would throw 98SE on there you should be able to find most of the drivers you need, although my roomate plays system shock 2 on XP with out any problem

Have you tried playing them in compatability mode?

right click on program shortcut select properties, then compatability tab and choose your mode...

I have tried everything to get system shock 2 to work. I've looked at guides, the problem is a stupid ass codec that doesn't work so the intro movies don't work and the games crash.

I've already bid on win95, because Nvidia seems to have drivers.

Win98 was way too expensive for me to buy just for a game. 50 beans is way too much on ebay. win95 is going for a nice 20-30 bucks.

If the problem is the "stupid ass codec", why don't you try to resolve that problem, then you can play the game on WinXP.

By the way, the game runs fine on WinXP.

because it says I already have a newer codec installed, so it won't install the older codec. And the codec is like 15 bucks to buy, I'm not gonna take a chance of buying it and it not working

You ain't gonna get Win95 to run on your hardware.. The timing problem that was fixed with the AMDK6 patch is more exagerated with the faster XP processors. I've tried to get it running on my AXP 2400+ rig a few times to no avail.
