When upgrading machines to Win81 recently, I've noticed that Windows attempts to access the floppy disk drive (internal, not USB) on some really odd occasions. For example, when safe-ejecting a USB storage device and when connecting one.
No other software was installed at the point that this occurred.
I don't know whether Win7 does the same thing because floppy drives aren't a common thing any more.
