Win8 safe mode?

where is it? can't find it on the repair disk or the usb install media. Hope it's not on the c: drive cause my install seems to have broken itself. what I did was restart to make a change in the bios, a change I forgot I had already made, save and exit. that's it, the last I've seen of win8. more......refresh, repair and restore gets me a hard drive locked message in the repair media.

It is accessed on the opening screen under Settings

To start your PC in safe mode

1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, tap Settings, and then tap Change PC settings. (If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, click Settings, and then click Change PC settings.)
2. Under PC settings, tap or click General.
3. Under Advanced startup, tap or click Restart now.
4. On the Choose an option screen, tap or click Troubleshoot.
5. Tap or click Advanced options.
6. Tap or click Change Windows startup settings.
7. Tap or click Restart.
8. On the Advanced boot options screen, choose the safe mode option you want.
9. Sign in to your PC with a user account that has administrator rights.

or by holding Shift-F8 at start up from what i read, it will give you the old start up menu that f8 used to

well apparently my troubles were related to the tpm module, somewhat. while working off my w7 drive i've also been fiddling with the tpm and setting up w8 during off hours. each on separate drives. shit must have gotten crossed up because after enabling the tpm more options appeared in recovery mode, drive unlocked and i refreshed the drive. not the best option but all that worked. self inflicted 🙂
