I helped my dad replace his motherboard. We have installed all the proper drivers and most everything is working fine.

The main problem is to clean it up more we need to uninstall some applications, however; going into Programs and Features brings up the whole list of installed apps, but then immediately freezes and a pop up window with "Windows Explorer has stopped responding" then the attempt to restart it...but it doesn't ever let you in.

in event viewer I see: error event 1000 faulting module C:\\Windows Sytem32\NTDLL.dll

Anyone have an idea of a workaround?

Safe mode wouldn't launch...thought i posted that.

It's fixed now down to a few other minor issues(the latest DST patch from Microsoft will not download, he is going to send me the error code), I am going to have him run the security reset tool and hopefully that will do it.

REVO uninstaller fixed it. There was something probably from his old motherboard.

We had tried to do a sysprep (he is running an enterprise edition of Win7 64 bit for his job), I think the rearming issue kept it from starting. I had spent a long time doing every suggestion I could find. We finally just restored from backup. The drawback was all the old drivers were still intact.

He has got a ton of various emulators and simulator. VM's and all that that will would be days and days to rebuild it from scratch.

Still I am having him take an inventory of all the things he currently needs in case a full reinstall becomes the solution.

my dad is working things out and thinks he narrowed it down.

here is his quote to me:
It looks like something with the AMD service packages got screwed up when we changed over.

These file are under Windows>Servicing>Packages. I found them and opened them up. They look like security certs, or some kind of cert. When I opened them they said they were fine?

One thread told a guy to delete them and hope that windows would re-build, or get an update? Sounds scary.

he included the files, if they would be helpful I can post them...they are long though.
