WIN7: open with...

It was working then suddenly my programming files no longer associate with Notepad++ and it doesn't show in the list (pic: http://imageshack.us/a/img577/4562/openwith.jpg). I navigate to notepad++.exe in its install directory and usually it pops it in the list after I choose it, but it doesn't anymore. Simply nothing happens after I choose notepad++.exe. I've tried reinstalling notepad++ and it doesn't help.

However there is a right-click "EDIT WITH NOTEPAD++" when I choose a file (any of my .cfm or .asp files), but I'd prefer it to be associated with it by default so it's just a double-click of the file. If I go to set program defaults, it doesn't allow me to set it for .cfm as it's not even in the list. Only common file types are. I tried repairing the registry with ccleaner and it didn't do anything either.

I know this is a noob suggestion, but have you tried going through Control Panel, Default Programs, then click on "Associate a file type or protocol with a program". Try resetting the association there. Might work, might not.

Is there a problem with browsing to Notepad++ and selecting it that way?

The other possible option is under Settings, Preferences, File Association. If you move the desired type over with the arrow, it should take over with opening it in Notepad++.

Yet another approach is to right click on one of the files you want associated with notepad++. Choose properties > opens with button > find notepad (mind any Always blah blah checkboxes) ok, apply ok. It's about the same thing as the open with dialog, It could be that something has gummed up your registry a bit. You can also go the regedit route too.
