Win7 keeps on waking up from hibernation

Most of the time, I put my computer into hibernation at night, usually until I get home from work the next afternoon. This is with a desktop computer. Lately, I come home, or when I get up in the morning, the computer is not in hibernation, it is in sleep mode, with the fans running. Something is waking it up. This seemed to get worse when I installed Windows Live Essentials virus software.

So am I going to forced to use the full shutdown option instead of the faster hibernation option?

Windows uses wake timers so it can wake the computer to perform scheduled tasks.

Is your computer configured to go into standby/hibernate after a period of idle time? If not, when your computer wakes to perform a scheduled task, it won't go back into standby/hibernate.

If you don't want your computer to wake up in the middle of the night, disable wake timers in the advanced settings of your power policy.
