Win7 install shuts down computer

Hi all,
I've been trying to install Win7 on my computer without success.

During install, either during extraction or during the reboot and completing installation, the installer simply shuts down the computer to a hibernation-like stage, while the CD reader is spins and stops and spins without end.
I'd like to state that I've burned 8 discs so far with 2 types of drives (all writes veryfied after burning), all kinds of speed, and tried to install again with 2 DVD drives, with the same result above - so it's unlikely that it would be a CRC error.
I've tried both 32 and 64 bit versions and a even stripped down Tiny7 CD.
WinXP ran without problems for years on this machine, as an Ubuntu runs just now, so a memory or HDD error is also unlikely.
I've also suspected AHCI mode in bios, but turning it off did not bore any results.
Searching in google, I've found a few forum threads describing the the same experiences, but no resolution.
The machine is a Gigabyte P35 with Q6600 CPU, 4GB ram and a GF9600 vidcard.
Anyone having an idea what could be wrong?
Thanks

Actually, my question is, what was the source of your RC ISO file? That file may be damaged or corrupted, and any number of DVD burns will not change it.
