Win7 bug - no way to navigate to Disk Management, if you view control panel as icons

Well, it seems that the Win7 designers screwed up. If you view control panel as icons, there's no way to get to disk management, by navigating. Administrative tools is missing a link.

If you do "View by category", click "System and Security", and then look underneath "Administrative Tools", there is a blue link titled "Create and format hard disk partitions", that lead to Disk Management.

If you do "View by small icon", click "Administrative Tools", then there is a list of links to things, but Disk Management is conspiciously missing. Shouldn't it be there?

Thankfully, you can still click the Start button, move the mouse over "Computer", and right-click and select Manage, and then Disk Management is right there. But if you didn't know that shortcut, and you had Control Panel set to icon view, then you might spend all day looking for Disk Management and never find it.

Disk Management is part of Administrative Tools -> Computer Management. That's the same place it has been for ages.

Ok, but why do the sub-items under Computer Management also have top-level shortcuts under Administrative Tools directly, EXCEPT for Disk Management?
(Event Viewer, Scheduled Tasks, Performance Monitor, etc.)
It seems like a glaring omission to me.

Because we'd all be out of the computer repair business if it wasn't?😛

I've been using right-click->Manage on the Computer entry on the start menu for some time now. That seems to be the quickest method to me.

thats how i do it also but if you really want a icon there, make it. create a shortcut to

%windir%\system32\diskmgmt.msc

You know its been a smooth release when people are busting up on designers over a missing icon. lol 😛
