Hey guys,
I recently installed Windows 7 on a comp that previously had xp. When I boot up, the "Windows boot manager" now comes up and gives me the option to either boot windows7 or "previous version of windows". My keyboard does not respond however, so I am left waiting for it to automatically decide to boot up whatever is highlighted, which is always windows 7. I am confused how this problem came to be in the first place, and how I can go about fixing it. Any help is appreciated.
Relevant information: My computer before installing the new OS was running XP off of a 1.5TB hard drive that contained everything. I then installed a second hard drive for the purpose of installing Windows7. So now I have XP installed on one hard drive, and Windows 7 on the other. I thought this would give me the option to either boot up XP or 7, based on which was first in the booting order, but I guess I was wrong. When I switch the boot-order in my bios settings, (to put the XP hard drive first), I dont even post at all.
My guess is that I have to format the XP hard drive which will wipe it clean. It is nearly full however, and I dont have a spare to back it up with, so I would prefer not to do this. Any other ideas?
