I have Win7 U 64 on a e8400 + p35-ds3l system. Ever since I installed Win 7 I have seen high cpu usage with mp3 playback. It's random, cpu usage reaches 50% for a while, drops, shoots up again. Sometimes it stays high until I stop the media player and restart it. I tried everything suggested on the net like turn off audio enhancements. Nothing really worked. So I sort of gave up.

But ... I noticed one strange thing. When the CPU usage was high, if I started CoreTemp, the usage would immediately drop, and never rise again. I noticed this quite a few times over a few weeks before posting. Any explanation ?

Right now I'm using this driver : motherboard_driver_audio_realtek_azalia R2.46.exe .

Firstly, I can't find any explanation or solution for the high CPU utilization problem. It's kind of stupid to see 50% CPU utilization when just playing mp3 audio files.

Secondly, why does that not happen when CoreTemp is running.

@Steltek : if CoreTemp is running I never have the high CPU utilization prob. I will check what happens if I run it and then exit the prog.
