Win7 "AppLocker" - is this just SRP renamed?

Just wondering. I use SRP on XP Pro, as added protection against getting browser-based malware (that most often resides in a temp directory, and somehow executes, if you don't have SRP enabled).

It would be really decent of MS to include this security feature as a baseline in all Win7 installs, but I'm not holding my breath. Is it possible to enable SRP in Pro, or do you need Ultimate for AppLocker? If you need Ultimate, I think that's pretty shitty of MS to restrict what is IMHO an essential security feature these days.

Edit: There seems to exist a third-party "applocker" app. See here

It looks like they are making it a little nicer to work with.

Overall it looks like they are working on focusing their product featuresets a bit so that they can promote their enterprise flavor a lot more than in the past.

XP pro and enterprise are pretty much the same and they are trying to isolate the management features to vista ( + MDOP) and 7 enterprise this time around to add selling points.

edit: it could be that this has a mechanism like softgrid/appv that records what an app does from installation to allow for a more effective policy, such as those Norton Uninstaller tools from back in the day. Only a guess though.
