Win7 64bit update, partitions, and DriveImage XML

I plan to update XP Pro 32 to Win7 64, and I have 2 partitions on the machine, with OS/programs on C and data on E. I assume I'll install Win7 on C, so will Win7 update require a reformat of E, or will it leave E alone? Second issue is....I image the drives with DriveImage XML. Current version says it runs on Win7 but doesn't mention 32 or 64 bit versions. Does this make a difference to an imaging program? My concern is that if I image the drives with XP will the Win7 installation read the files OK if I need them? Thanks.

Installing Win7 on C: should leave your E: partition untouched, but good practices would say never do an OS install without having a current, verified backup of your data. I did my install yesterday and the data partition was not disturbed.

Regarding your imaging software, I don't have any direct experience with DriveImage, but most 32 bit apps will work on a 64bit OS and DriveImage should work as advertised if your version is advertised to work on Win7.
