Win7 64. Explorer.exe keeps crashing

I'm also guessing some media-related package. Did you install any 64-bit VFW filters? Either form DivX or K-Lite or Shark?
 
No. None of that.

I never had this problem on my old OS install. Although I am doing a few things different but no obvious thing that would cause me to hard - reboot ... My last attempt to solve this was I right clicked Desktop/Personalize/Sounds and made sure i had things set to 'no sounds' It's only been a few boots, everything seems ok. I'm sure it'll arise again soon.
