Win3.11 sharing with server 2012

Hi,

I'm having trouble mapping a shared folder on the windows 3.11 for workgroups machine.

The win3.11 computer can't see other computers on the network, but the funny thing, I can see the shared folder of the win3.11 in every computer over the network.

Does any one know why this is happening?

Can anyone help me solve this problem?

Ps: upgrading the win3.11 is not s solution since its a Cnc machine with win3.11 embedded

Probably because newer versions of Windows have deprecated LANMAN hashes, because they are insecure. I'm not even sure Server 2012 would allow you to re-enable them.

What about FTP?

Its not viable since the explorer on the interface of the cnc machine only sees what's on the explorer tree.

The only solution to my problem that I found until now, was to create a virtual machine with windows XP and do the share on the vm machine.
This way the win3.11 can find the winxp virtual machine.

But still, I'm creating a VM windowsXP that I shouldn't need.

:S

Windows 3.11 is so far out of support, I am not sure you could get server 2012 to communicate with it. LANMAN hashs are deprecated, SMB 1.0 is deprecated, all of the original encryption methods like 56 bit DES, deprecated.
