Win2k3 Enterprise

The only reason to run a server OS is if you need to run a ... *drumroll please* ... server. Well, there is one other very good reason to run Win2k3 over Windows XP on a workstation: if you have one of these. 😀

Any thoughts
Here are my thoughts: you can download a free trial of WinServer 2003 Enterprise Edition from Microsoft, last I checked. Try it yourself if you want to. But it brings to my mind the people working their butts off to overclock their Pentium3 to 800MHz... in the end, it's all just water under the bridge as time marches on.

Enjoy what you've got, while you've got it, instead of making an expensive ordeal out of grasping for a tiny bit more. If you have $2500 burning a hole in your pocket, then instead of buying a server OS, find a neighborhood center that serves underprivileged kids, and ask them what they could use. :sun:

Yes when it has better driver/software support. By the time that happens we'll be using Vista 64 then.

And mechBgon this has nothing to do with making a ordeal out of anything. Computers are my work and play. I don't just use them, then say the heck with that, if it's working why bother. No if there is something to be solved, or a possible choice to be made that is better, then I try my best to solve it, I just don't sweep it under the rug.

The replies like these are from people who are Windows users, I am, but I am also a Unix/Linux user of many years, which takes on a different meaning of "USE"

I don't just drive, I get under the hood.

ALOHA

mechBgon oh by the way, I didn't mean to be rude or anything, so I'm sorry if the reply seemed a bit stiff. Truly thanks for your replies. I happen to have a copy of Win2k Enterprise and standard, thinking I was going to use them for servers, but now they're just collecting dust, haven't really used them much.

spyordie007, ahh I wasn't thinking about Server x64 just Pro.

THANKS
