O.K....i was attempting to make my new system a dual boot box with 98se and win2k...i got 98 to load and all is good...not when i tryied to load win2k it wont recognize the HDD. Its a IBM deskstar 75GPX (ATA 100). ive loaded the newest drivers (from promise web page), flashed the BIOS, checked the cables, what else can i try. im running it on a MSI 694D with two PIII 700 (@800), Corsair pc133, any help would be greatly appreciated. and you will be considered the MAN for a day (or WOMAN).

Might try to change BIOS settings for the disk mode.
If it is auto now, it might try and get DMA, in which
case it might have problems (thought it shouldn't but
it might... I've been fighting a similar problem.)

Of course this seems backwards. Setting your speedy
disk to a DMA mode... whack. But it might work.

I'm seem to recall that there is a 32GB limit to partition
size in Fat32 (Win98) filesystem. If you have a 75GB 75GXP,
maybe that is really what is freaking it.

Okay,

tell me, what happens when you try to load 2k? Are you doing it by booting from the CD or doing it in Windows and doing a fresh install that way? I haven't played around with ATA-100 controllers but you need to get the Win2k drivers for the controller. This is just a stab in the dark but when it asks if you have any SCSI cards that you would like to load drivers for, that is the time which you should load the driver(s) for the ATA-100 card (i.e. copy them to a floppy).

Again this is just a guess.

if u can see drive in w98, then the hardware is not the prob.

sounds like W2K doesn't have the drivers it needs.

how is controller in w2k? no conflicts? u can see it in dev mgr?

any other drive on the (same) controller that u *can* see?
