WIN2K won't boot

I have Windows 2000 and Win98 in a dual boot configuration on separate drives. Suddenly when I choose WIN2000 I get an STOP error:
STOP 0X0000001E (0XC0000005,0X804EFFDA,0X00000000,0X00000000)
ADDRESS 804EFFDA BASE AT 80400000, DATE STAMP 384D5A76- NTOSKRNL.EXE beginning dump of physical memory.

And then it either is locked at a blue screen or reboots itself? I can boot to WIN98 and access all the drives and all hardware seems ok. I haven't made any changes lately either.
I tried "last known good configuration", "VGA mode", EVERYTHING!
Is there a manual way to restore a earlier version of my registry? I've been through these things in Win98, but WIN2K is still a mystery to me. HELP!

I personally feel it's because you have an overclocked system and Win2k can be touchy on those. Boot into Win98, re-install Win2k and later you will have an option to repair an existing installation once it boots back into the installation process under DOS.

Well... it WAS overclocked a little and worked fine for weeks before this. I have it running stock now. I tried your suggestion. It does a repair and copies files from the WIN2K CD and when it reboots, I get the same message. Is there a thing like "regback /restore" for WIN2K? If I have to do a complete reinstall, how would I keep my data?

On the W2k CD is a file with an executable that makes a 4 Floopy set of startup/repair disks.

Or reinstall from Win'98. There is an option to repair a previous installation. You will lose no settings or data using this....you hope.

Tried IT! It copies data from the CD then reboots to the STOP ERROR. I can't figure it out?
