Win2k wont boot after shutdown, but boots with reset?

Hey guys, ive got a little problem. Ive got win2k and its been running fine for a few weeks now, and I havent changed any software. Basically when i try to start the machine from a cold boot, it gets all the way into windows when the login screen is about to come up, and just sits. No mouse cursor, nothing. If I hit reset, it will then boot into windows fine. I havent a clue whats causing it. Any suggestions. Thanks
