Win2k will not read from my ata100 drives

Happy Holidays everyone... or at least it will be when i get this $^#$@$%@ machine running!! 🙂

I volunteered myself to upgrade my mothers computer over my Winter Break from college. I have an abit be6-II ver 2 MB and an ata100 hard drive that i want to dump all the OS stuff on. While starting to install 2k, it would not reconize the ata100 drive for nothing. i moved it over to the ide channel and everything went fine. i figured it was the ata100 controller so when i got everything installed i found some "new" drivers from abit for the controller. I finally got both the cd-rom and burner to read from the ide channels... but when i put the HDD back on ata100 channel, Win2k gives me a STOP error before it complety loads saying that there is not a valid hard disk to read from. when i swtich it back to the ide channels, it works fine. the device manager does not flag any errors, the bios sees the ata100 drive... but win2k will not!! Please, I know it is Christmas eve, but i really need some advice on this guys and gals! Thanks so much!!

Did you load win2k sp2? It has the hotfix for ata100. Just win2k alone won't do it, it should see the ide bus, you just won't have ata100.

I have not installed it yet... but that was my next adventure. Ill give it a try and let you know if it worked... thanks Rusty!
