win2k vpn client works but not XP pro client...why?

I am helping connect a vpn from one office(my office is the client side) to another office using pptp and just standard MS vpn stuff.
I can connect using my win2k box. but the person who needs to use it can't connect using winXP pro.
are there any differences in network settings I should kneo between the 2?

when the xp box tries to connect it sees the vpn server but then gives an error message that the server failed to respond.

any ideas?

you don't have the XP firewall feature turned on do you?

Also of note, are these 2 different locations with 2 different firewalls.
You firewall might have port GRE (47) and port PPTP (1423) enabled whereas the other guy's firewall might not.
