Win2k + Via 4in1s = no CD burning?

I recently had to reformat my computer and I reinstalled Win2k on the machine. I installed new 4in1 drivers (3.11 beta, and have tried 3.10 final Bus Master drivers and 4.05 AGP GART driver) and all the win2k service packs and hotfixes. I have a KT7 original and a Thunderbird 1000 with a Plextor 12/10/32A. Before the format my Plextor writer worked absolutely fine. Now it will read and everything but when I try to burn something in Nero it gives me a SCSI/IDE error and Padus Discjuggler wont boot because it says it cannot detect an aspi manager. I have reinstalled these programs so I know it has nothing to do with that. My system's performance is great, no instabilities, but this problem remains. Any ideas would be great help.

Thank you.

You might want to check your aspi layer with aspichk from adaptec to see what you have installed. It is available here.

If that shows a problem with your aspi layer, you should probably get forceaspi here.

An easier and somewhat necessary way to get ASPI layers is to install windows media player 7, since it comes with a crude way to burn cds using a minimal adaptec interface.
