win2k + Umax scanner users

my Umax 1220U works fine with windows 2000 but the light always turns on automatically when windows 2000 loads. I downloaded the latest drivers from umax.com and I still have the same problem.

Is there a way around to avoid this?
 
When I asked Umax about this problem they told me that the 1220U is not supported under windows 2000.

!?!?!
The scanner works fine for me under windows 2000, they just need to make a little modification so the light of the scanner doesn't turn on when windows loads!
