Win2k to WinXP?

Is this possible? I know it is if you upgrade to XP Pro but what about the NTFS system? Will XP support it? What will I lose going from 2000 to XP Pro?

XP will support NTFS. The only issues you may have are driver or software related. Most drivers and software that run under Windows 2000 will work but there are exceptions. If this is a mission critical or important system I would test your applications and hardware first before you put it on your main system.

You should lose no features.

So basically once this comes out there will be no reason to get Win2k Pro anymore? And will RC1 work if I try to install it over Win2k? Or is the RC1 only the home version?

I upgraded my Win2k to XP and it was the easiest OS install/upgrade I've ever done. Everything went fine and smooth. The only problem I have is with my sound card and I think it's a driver issue with the Hercules Game Theater XP.

Mark: Had I not messed up burning the .iso the first time, upgrading 2k to RC1 would have been a cinch I believe 🙂

But I also did it from scratch with no big issues.

Price the same, I would see no REAL reason to buy new win2k over winxp pro
