Hi guys,
I know this is a problem many people have, and I hate to add another thread, but all the normal solutions don't work for me so I have to...60Hz is killing my eyes :(

Anyway, I just got a new system with a Radeon 9700 Pro and Win2K SP3, and like the title states, my refresh rate is locked at 60Hz. Not only in games, but in Windows too. My monitor is a Nokia 445XPro 21" capable of 1600x1200@85Hz which I desire, but every single resolution and color depth I chose gets locked at 60Hz. What's up with that? I have the latest Catalyst 2.5 drivers, and I've tried r3dtweak, Refreshforce and Refreshlock. None of them work on this system. Anybody has any ideas? Thanks!

Hmmn, after some fooling around I've found a partial fix by going to the ATI control panel->Displays and setting the resolution/refresh rate there. However I have to do it manually which is quite a pain since it means i have to switch my desktop resolution/refresh rate to the one I wish to play my games at, everytime I wanna play a game.

Just set the maximum refresh rate and resolution for your monitor (mine is set at 2048 X 1536 and 200Hz) in the displays attributes and it should work fine with your different settings. Make sure "use DDC information" is unchecked.

I surmise that at first start up TV was probably enabled and both it and Monitor were @ 60Hz. I have found it is necessary to initially toggle TV off and then set the desired Monitor refresh rate and resolution (then toggle TV on again if desired).

2048 X 1536 at 200Hz?!? What kinda freaking display do you have man? :p

Anyway, I don't think my monitor supports DDC

About the TV thing, I don't even have a TV connected at all ever...

My monitor doesn't support 2048 X 1536 @ 200Hz, but those are the maximum resolution (2048 X 1536) and the maximum refresh rate (200Hz) that my monitor supports. My monitor doesn't support DDC when using BNC connectors so I have to manually set the max values....otherwise the display defaults to 60Hz no matter what you enter...just like you're describing.

I use my monitor at 1600 X 1200 @ 85Hz, its a 22" Mitsu, nice but not 2048X1536@200Hz nice LOL.

Oh ok, I misunderstood you then :)
I didn't think monitor technology advanced by that much since 1999 :)

Anyway, I'm using BNC connectors too on my Nokia 445XPro, so that's probably why DDC isn't supported?

Hmmn, the "displays" solution worked...but then I installed DX9 and updated to the Catalyst 3.0 drivers...now that solution doesn't work anymore.

can you uninstall just sp3?

i had my 9700pro and win2gae sp2 and everything was peachy.. if you just use that comp for gaming, not work, bank transactions, things of that nature, i wouldnt put sp3 on, i think its a bunch of crap microsoft bundled in order to cloak its new key validation, and update system...
