My sound card seems to be installed fine (under the Device Manager list)... but when I go to Sound and Multimedia in Control Panel, the Audio tab is all greyed out and it won't let me select anything.. just says that there is no playback device. And the little speaker icon has disappeared from my system tray. Anyone got any ideas about what's going on? The funny thing is that my system and SOUND was working properly then all of a sudden after a reboot it didn't work anymore arrrgh... I tried uninstalling the sound and reinstall it and that goes smoothly but still the options in sound and multimedia are greyed out. I was using onboard sound so I tried to disable that and install a sound card "vortex" and as expected the installation goes smoothly but in sound and multimedia the audio tab is greyed out. There are no conflicts with any hardware components in my system so i have no idea what's going please help!!!

My system is a PIII-800
Using Win2k lastest service pack
256 RAM
Matrox Marvel G450
Quatum 20gig
Motherboard - Shuttle AV32

Thank you!
