I have a dual OS setup - WinME and Win2K.

WinME is able to go into sleep mode and back without any problems :)
Win2K is resetting the computer when I try to go to sleep mode or to use any ACPI functions - like SoftOff when I press the power button - I have Asus P3V4X and when I press my power button on my case my PC shots down my windows and powers off (I can also set it to go into sleep mode...

I use the latest VIA drivers on both OS's

Can anybody help me before I will be forced to re-install Win2K

The number of possibilities staggers the mind. But every time I've seen this in W2K, it has been caused by a device driver -- and not one of the culprits was digitally signed as being W2K-compliant. That's not to say that ALL unsigned drivers cause problems. My I7500 notebook has four unsigned inf files among its driver complement, and its power management functions are perfect.

Have you tried sigverif.exe to see what's unsigned on the system? That would be my first step. Check the log after closing the results dialog to see what checked out, what didn't, and what wasn't checked.

Are you getting any error messages: Dr. Watson? Event Viewer?

Regards,
Jim

I don't really know the real solution for this issue. But may I tell you how I troubleshoot ACPI/APM/Standbye/Hibernate problem?

Switch back all of the drivers to the default (the one that automatically installed by Win2k). Starting from the chipsets drivers, then video card driver.

Try Microsoft ACPI Tools to determine what's the problem. It's available at microsoft's homepage, but if you can't find it I can send it to you...

My machine was running fine until I set the Power Management options to suspend when idle. When it suspended or went into sleep, video would not return. Keyboard was also inactive.
Rebooting was only way to reset.
After returning to original setting, problem persisted.
I reinstall a backup of registry files and used an alternative "good" machine setup boot of W2K but the problem still occurs.

What instruction set has been altered that cannot be reset?

yeah really TechMaster, flash it to 1006 beta 1 or at least 1005 final. 1003 is way too old. where is your tweaking crave? if you dont have the bios files i can mail them to you. just say what version.
