win2k sees hardware that isnt detected in BIOS?!?!

Hi folks

In my system POST, the BIOS doesn't detect ANYTHING hooked up to the PRI IDE channel...

I installed win2k in the SEC IDE MASTER and in the Hardware Device Manager it can see the PRI IDE controller...

what gives? I've tried swapping cables...setting the bios to fail-safe settings...etc...

someone suggested replacing the power supply (i got a sparkle 235W running a Duron 700+ Soyo SYk7VTA mobo)...could that be the case?

thanks in advance!

try changing the bios ide detection from none to auto. It should be in the standard cmos options.

thanks for the advice!

took my system back to the shop and it was a grounding problem traced to the mounting feet of the mobo

🙂

whew! at least it was a simple fix 🙂
