WIN2K reinstall

I have Win98 on drive C and W2K on drive D: using a dual boot. I deleted everything on drive D and attempted to reinstall W2K. The problem is it detects multiple operating systems and halts the install. Something in the Win98 registry much need to be deleted or changed, but I don't know what? Any ideas?

I don't think there is anything in the Win98 Registry. Most likely its the Master Boot Record. Try this. After you have cleaned all of Win2k from the hard drive, boot your PC from the Win98 boot disc. Once loaded, run 'fdisk/mbr' (no quotes). This will rebuild the Master Boot Record (only takes a few seconds). Now install Win2k.

I'm wondering if its doing this because it detects the dual-boot. The setup program shouldn't even touch the Windows 98 registry. Try doing an fdisk /mbr in a MS-DOS box after booting into Win98, then installing Win2K. Also, are you running the Win2K setup program from the boot disks or from Win98?

I'm in WIN98 and I insert the W2K disc so it autoruns. I then choose to install and it it gives me the multiple operating systems bull.
I'll try wiping the boot record and get back to you guys.

No good. I erased the MBR and when it rebooted it still happened. I think it has to do with the dual boot menu where it asks if I want to boot into win98 or win2k. Anybody know where the dual boot stuff is stored or named, so I could eliminate it and just boot into win 98 without any mention of win2k?
