win2k refuses to boot

till yesterday there ws absolutley no problem...2k booted and worked flawlessly...
but i come in in the morning and BAM...just comes and waits at "starting your computer ..." whatever screen..

tried power offs...everything...checked if all my hardware was connected properly..
no success
i did not change any settings, did not fiddle around with the services...nothing....just plain work .....

also i have the Recovery console installed....but have never used it...so dunno what to do with it..can it help out here.

i really need to get my comp on the network coz there is some work pending....

It's strange that it should happen as you haven't changed any settings / installed any software. Does safe mode / last known good config work?

oh..sorry forgot to mention that earlier..
tried the previous known good congiguration....no use..

can i use the Recovery Console...i had read somewhere that the Recovery onsole acn be used when 2k starts misbehaving...but io never managed to figure out how....

Boot up with the Win2k CD, and see if you can repair the installation. There is an option for this in the installation menu.

P.S. Oh, and by the way ... have you told your IT guy about the problem, instead of trying to fix yourself? If you have an IT department, this would be a good time to make a call.

already did that...and managed to boot after 3 tries...

I am in the more into the multimedia field but...i'm half of the System Admin department here 🙂
In any case all our systems are going in for a clean format this weekend...(ohhh can't wait...)
so i'll be getting a clean install done on my system..so i just have to manage for the next 2 days..
